The best way to keep up to date with Wetherby Athletic AFC

PREVIEW v Yorkshire Amateur Ladies

2 months ago By Pete Arnett

Ladies Resume League Action.

After nearly six weeks absence from the pitch, Wetherby Athletic’s Ladies team travel over to Leeds tomorrow to take on Yorkshire Amateur Ladies. The match has a 2pm kick-off time and a closer inspection of the weather app shows that the match should be played in sunshine, although cold, conditions.

The ladies will have to hit the ground running to shake any cobwebs away with such a long time away from football, but one thing that you can always bet on, is that they are always up to a challenge!

The form guide, over the past five league games, shows that our hosts are the clear favourites for this game, which will suit Athletic fine as the pressure will be off them.

At present, Yorkshire Amateur Ladies sit in second place in the league with 19 points from a total of 24. At their Bracken Edge home, they have won both the games that they have played (against Silsden AFC and Bradford Park Avenue). Goals wise, they have scored 8 in total (avg. 4.0 goals per match) whilst conceding 4 (avg. 2.0 goals per match)

The two teams met at The Ings on the opening day of the season and it was not a wonderful time for Wetherby with Amateurs running out 19-1 winners! Hopefully this game will be a lot closer! A win for Athletic could even see them leapfrog Brayton Belles and off the bottom of the league!

The referee for this match will be Mr Manjinder Rayat. This will be the first time that Mr Rayat has taken charge of a match feature the two sides.

If you would like to go and watch this game, then the address you will need is Bracken Edge, Roxholme Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS7 4JG.
